    <summary type="text">Title: Tourism and inequality in per capita water availability: is the linkage sustainable?

Abstract: This paper shows the bilateral association between tourism development and inequality in per capita availability of water. The study is conducted on the countries with high tourism receipt, and thereafter, this study shows whether the directions of tourism development in these countries are going to be sustainable or not. In order to achieve this, we have used tourism investment and tourism receipt as two indicators of tourism development and have assessed their differential impacts on the disparity in water availability by applying DOLS and causality analysis approach. Empirical results show long-run impact of tourism on inequality in per capita availability of water, along with the presence of bidirectional causal association among the tourism development and inequality parameters. This study further reveals the impact of tourism on the regional disparity in distribution of water that can appear due to the differential approach taken toward tourism development. Based on study outcomes, several policy directions where offered for the investigated blocs.</summary>

Abstract: This examination explored the link between renewable energy utilization and environmental degradation in top-10 polluted countries by using monthly data from 1990 to 2017. The Quantile-on-Quantile regression (QQ) proposed by Sim and Zhou [1] and Granger causality in quantiles developed by Troster [2] are applied. In particular, we examine in what manners, quantiles of renewable energy consumption affect the quantiles of environmental degradation. Our empirical findings unfold overall dependence between renewable energy consumption and ecological deterioration. The findings recommend the presence of a significant negative association between renewable energy consumption&#xD;
and environmental degradation in China, USA, Japan, Canada, Brazil, South Korea and Germany, predominantly in high and low tails but results are totally contrasting in the case of India, Russia and&#xD;
Indonesia. Furthermore, the outcomes of Granger-causality in quantiles conclude a bidirectional causal&#xD;
link between renewable energy consumption and environmental degradation. The empirical findings&#xD;
suggest that governments should need to subsidize green energy in declining ecological degradation.</summary>

Abstract: This paper focuses on long-term evidence on economic growth, international tourism, globalization, energy consumption and carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions in OECD countries for the period of 1994–2014. The empirical analysis reveals that climate change is magnified by energy use, tourism and economic growth. An inverted U-shaped relationship is also found between international tourism and CO2 emissions. The contribution of international tourism to climate change in the early stages of development is thus diminished by globalization in the later stages. In other words, globalization appears to reduce carbon emissions from international tourism. The empirical results provide additional arguments for shaping regulatory frameworks&#xD;
aimed at reversing the current energy mix in OECD countries by facilitating energy efficiency and promoting renewable sources.</summary>

Abstract: This paper validates the tourism-led growth hypothesis for a panel of selected OECD countries, including the&#xD;
effects of per capita CO2, globalization and energy use during the period 1994–2014.&#xD;
The long-term relationship between economic growth and the above-mentioned variables is confirmed by&#xD;
applying unit root tests and cointegration approaches. The Generalized Method of Moments (GMM) methodology confirms a N-shaped relationship between international tourism and per capita economic growth.&#xD;
Globalization does not appear to be very effective in the short run for promoting economic growth; its impact on&#xD;
growth is determined through a finite-lag distribution, as the optimal effect can only be achieved in the long&#xD;
term. A direct relationship is detected between economic growth, energy use and globalization. The recommendation is to reshape regulatory frameworks with a clearer focus on promoting international tourism and more efficient energy use as a means of enhancing sustainable economic growth in developed countries. The empirical results reveal that fossil fuels account for a large part of the energy mix, so policy makers should&#xD;
consider reinforcing the promotion of clean energy sources and the use of more efficient processes.</summary>
